The US has such a short life that we haven’t filled out the innards of our country as extensively as European countries. In only the past century and a half, these “megaregions” have come into existence as our population ballooned. They will continue to have massive growth.
I absolutely love this map because it says so much more about our country than any standard state map could. I also love the biological feel to it — thinking about how these regions will continue to expand like just like bacteria gets me goin!
